The Arab Water Council Arab Water Council held the 3rd & final regional workshop for the “Acceleration of Aquifer Storage and Recovery in the MENA Region” project in Nicosia, Cyprus - 23 to 26 January 2020.
As part of the activities under the “Acceleration of Aquifer Storage and Recovery in the MENA Region” project, the 3rd Regional closing workshop was held from 23rd to 26th of January, 2020 in Nicosia, Cyprus.
The meeting aimed at reviewing the progress of the project activities and finalizing pending tasks in each implementing country now that the project is coming to an end. The timeline for the delivery of the project’s final products and outputs was also agreed upon during the meeting.
The 1st day of the workshop included opening remarks by Dr. John Wilson, Director of the office of Technical support, Middle East & Asia bureau, USAID, followed by Eng. Ali Subh, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Water and Irrigation (MWI) in Jordan and AWC board of Governor and Eng. Heba Al Hariry, The Deputy Technical Director and the regional coordinator of the project.
AWC team also had the opportunity to present the work done by the council on Suitability Mapping for Aquifer recharge including different methodologies used in developing the maps and how they can be used as a tool in the decision-making process.
