Egypt represented by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation (MWRI) will host the 4th Africa Water Week and the 8th Ordinary Session of African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW) otherwise known as the General Assembly in Cairo between May 14th – May 18th 2012 after the TAC sessions on 11th and 12th May 2012. The event marks the 10th anniversary of the formation of AMCOW in Abuja, Nigeria; through the 2002 Abuja Declaration
The Africa Water Week represents a political commitment at the highest level with over 54 African Countries and 1000 participants from governments, regional institutions, international partners, the private sector, the scientific community, civil society, and the media from all over the world, and in particular Africa, meet to discuss and collectively seek solutions to Africa's water and sanitation challenges. The general theme of the 4th Africa Water Week is: "Water for Growth in Africa …. AMCOW's Journey @ 10"
The event will be held at City Stars Intercontinental Hotel, Cairo, Egypt. The Arab Water Council's (AWC) Secretariat has been assigned the responsibility of the Event manager. All information and on-line registration are available on the event website at http://www.africawaterweek.com/index.php.
An exhibition for water and sanitation research, development, technology and industry will be held from 14 to 18 may 2012.
